Dimbola Lodge

Postby CJLondonHUB on Fri Sep 26, 2008 8:34 pm

Julia Margaret Cameron, the famous Victorian portrait photographer, lived at Dimbola Lodge from 1860 until 1875, where she photographed the cream of Victorian Society. The Julia Margaret Cameron Trust was set up with the aim of ensuring the preservation of Dimbola Lodge, and to provide historical information on Julia Margaret Cameron's life and works.

Her ghost is also reputed to be very active here. She has been seen, heard and even smelled in various rooms throughtout the house and it seems she takes a very high interest in over seeing her work. Her spirit has been described as pale, wearing a silk taffeta gown which is of a dark bronze colouration with a high neck and tight sleeves. Her hair is in ringlets and her dress rustles as she walks through the corridoors and rooms.
